The African American Education Series was created to educate and empower the African American ("AA") community on being pro-active with the medical management of their multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is a chronic, unpredictable and largely invisible disease. There are several studies that have suggested that early treatment of MS may be the key to decreasing the rapid progress of physical disabilities that are observed in the AA community. |
The six (6) main therapies for MS are known to be partially effective in slowing the disease progression but do not stop progression nor cure the disease. Because the expectations of these available therapies are often misunderstood, it is important to explain how the MS patient will benefit by adhering to their prescribed treatment. |
