Saturday, September 27, 2008.

Through the generous sponsorships of Humana, Inc., Fifth Third Bank, Greenebaum Doll & McDonald, and Lowe’s, People Working Cooperatively …in Louisville will hold this inaugural event for some 25 low-income elderly or disabled homeowners in the greater Louisville area. Applications will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis, so don’t hesitate to apply if you are interested in this event.

Who is People Working Cooperatively? People Working Cooperatively (PWC) is a 33 year-old non-profit organization that provides critical home repairs, energy conservation, modification, maintenance, and education services for very low-income homeowners throughout 13 counties in southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky and Indiana. PWC focuses on basic living essentials – heat, running water, working toilets, solid roofing and other repairs that keep a home safe and habitable. We also provide home modifications for the elderly and for persons with disabilities so that their homes are accessible, safe for the residents, and provide them with the ability to live independently.

Over the past several years, Humana has been a partner in PWC’s various volunteer efforts in the Greater Cincinnati area. They recently invited PWC to bring its program to Humana’s home city - Louisville, Kentucky. As the Title Sponsor for this event, they recognize the void in the local community for these services.

An application can be downloaded at the Center website at www.loumscenter.com or at www.pwchomerepairs.org, or you can call (502) 569-4183, ext. 16, to have one mailed to your home. You will need to fill it out immediately and mail it to People Working Cooperatively, 4612 Paddock Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45229, attention Staci O’Leary. You may also call 1.800.392.7921 and ask for Staci at ext. 239, or send an e-mail through www.pwchomerepairs.org.

In addition, we are looking for volunteers to help that day with repairs. Is all you’ve ever done is replace a couple of washers in a faucet? Don’t Worry! PWC’s skilled professional staff will oversee every project. We match a job to your level of experience! If you want to perform repair work, we can place you with someone who is skilled to provide guidance. You can obtain a Volunteer Registration form from either of the organizations listed above.

We, at the Center, hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity. It is a unique opportunity that shouldn’t be missed! This is based on a first come, first served basis, so act quickly if you feel you will be eligibl
